Hot photos. Heavenly places.

Some of Neil’s Past Photo Safaris:

Neil’s first trips with photography as a central focus resulted form leading SCUBA trips to the Caribbean.   The advent of digital photography fueled the fire, bidding him to see and photograph more of the world.   There are just too many cool places to see and shoot.   Here are the major adventures so far.

Scuba:   1994

Underwater ImageThe only place better to do photography than the world’s exotic surface locations is the world’s exotic underwater locations.  Underwater photography gives greater freedom of movement and an entirely new set of subject matter.   Under the surface of the ocean, however, is a far more demanding environment in which to do great photography.

England:   2001

Image of EnglandThe land credited with providing America’s founding fathers also makes a spectacular photographic playground.   Visions of castles, knights and chivalry dominated my photographic preparations.   Certainly these subjects exist but there is so much more.   The peace of Chartwell as it calls back Churchill’s memory.   The charm of Stratford Upon Avon with its rich rowing history and that of Shakespeare encourage you to sit along the river and contemplate days past.   Stonehenge, Avesbury and more.   Too many sites to mention, too many photo opportunities to miss.   England is on Neil’s bucket list for another photographic adventure.

France:   2001

Image of France In this fabulous country for only a few days, the tour just had to take in the famous sites of Paris.   The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and many more kept the group busy for the entire stay.
How does a photographer capture a slightly different vision of these world famous icons?   Shoot, shoot, shoot.

Africa - Tanzania:   2005

Image of Africa The idea of a photo safari to Africa first entered Neil’s mind more than 20 years ago.   When he encountered a very supportive environment at Pixels Foto, he planned and executed, in October 2005, the first of several subsequent   African Safaris over the next several years.   It was everything the photographers expected and more.   Everyone should go.   Its National Geographic 24 hours a day for nearly 2 weeks.   You’ll be a different person after seeing all Africa has to offer.

California:   2006

Image of California Neil’s wife’s home state is a great place to practice photographic skills.   While California features a tremendous range of geography and culture, the central coast’s Monterey Bay area certainly ranks as Neil’s favorite.   From the wild shoreline to the towering redwoods to the streets of San Francisco, California never lets Neil down.

Nepal:   2008

Image of NepalPhotography in Nepal offers perhaps the greatest diversity of subjects within a single border anywhere in the world.   Nepal’s jungle lowlands offer birds, large cats, rivers that rock and rivers that roll.   Views of Himalayan peaks - the world’s most spectacular - welcome you within only a day’s travel from nearly anywhere in the country.

Whether you motor or trek, Nepal’s landscapes, flora and fauna stagger the imagination.   Then, there is the culture.   Long a crossroads in the Orient, the ancient and the modern intersect in Kathmandu, home to Nepal’s largest population center.   The myriad shops, temples and monasteries provide street shooting opportunities beyond compare.

Thailand:   2008

Thailand When transformed from Siam to Thailand, this great country lost none of its spirit or history.   The new melds seamlessly with the old, paying great respect to the country’s past as it charges into the new century.   Ancient temples and monasteries abound.   The Grand Palace easily requires a day or more of your photographic attention.   Almost everywhere lays a thriving marketplace begging for your attention.   Neil states “Thailand ranks among the top photo destinations for any photographer seeking fresh new subject matter.”

Hong Kong:   2008

Hong Kong Neil’s recent stopover in Hong Kong made it his second visit to this thriving city.   Change is no stranger to Hong Kong but the terrific photo opportunities remain.   The city’s history of merging the ancient and modern continues providing unparalleled photo opportunities.

Southern Utah:   2008

Utah Glyphs Neil feels quite fortunate to live so close to some of the world’s most photographed areas.   Within just a few hours of Salt Lake City lie red rock canyons, salt deserts, towering, snow covered peaks, pine forests, fields of wild flowers and, of course, a fascinating history.
