Neil Eschenfelder

Neil EschenfelderBackground: Over the last 30 years Neil has worked in many facets of the retail photo industry.   During this period he owned a photography studio in which he specialized in wedding portrait and commercial photography.   Neil’s background also includes providing crime scene and evidential photography for the Salt Lake Legal Defender’s Office in Salt Lake City, UT.   Neil’s interest in underwater photography led to certification as scuba instructor for PADI, SSI and the Handicap Scuba Association as well as a becoming a certified underwater photographic instructor.

Neil began teaching photography classes at the University of Utah’s Continuing Education department in April of 2000.   Currently the University offers up to five classes taught by Neil, which include Intro to Digital Photo; Digital Level II; Handling Your Photos; Introduction to Basic Photography and Black & White Photography (including film developing and printing).

In addition to his University of Utah teaching duties, Neil has instructed diverse groups such as the Entrada Institute in Torrey, Utah; the US Marshal’s Office in Salt Lake City as well as teaching intra oral photo techniques.

Neil spent most of his career teaching people about cameras and how to use them.   He currently employs his skills at Pixels Foto and Frame in the Salt Lake City, Utah area.   In his current position, Neil uses past experience gained leading scuba groups to remote locations in the Caribbean and applies those skills to the development of Pixels Foto’s Photo Safari Program leading photo enthusiasts to different parts of the world to photograph in some of it's most exotic locales.   While developing a trip to Nepal, Wildlife Conservation Nepal (WCN) asked Neil to teach his photo class to their membership in Kathmandu during April of 2008.   As a result of this contact, the WCN named Neil the photo advisor for their web site.
